Sri Lankan slow music lovers...

In the westernized world of 21st century we are living today, there is no time and space for the slow music but the Rock Music has taken its place. “SWARA” is a new introduction as well as a great musical experiment which matches to the heart beats of Sri Lankan slow music lovers. This show has been planned to reduce the gap between the singers and the audience by incorporating friendly conversing style to conduct the program making it unique among other musical programs.

Dr. Victor Rathnayake, Visharada Sunil Edirisinghe and Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe are the distinguished artists of the event which are known as Giants in the Sri Lankan classical music industry.Which is organized by students of Faculty and Management and Finance University of Colombo.

ICC World T20 Sri Lanka 2012 Official event song launched

Good news for Cricket fans...ICC World T20 Sri Lanka 2012 Official event song launched...

The International Cricket Council (ICC) in collaboration with Bathiya and Santhush launched the ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012 official event song ‘Vissai Vissa’ (Twenty Twenty).
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has selected Sri Lankanmusic superstars Bathiya and Santhush (B&S) to create the official event song for the ICC T20 World Cup 2012 which will run from September 18 to October 7.
The official event song of the ICC WT20 SL 2012 captures the spirit and energy of Sri Lanka and the Twenty20 format of the game. The song ‘Vissai Vissa’ in essence means ‘Twenty Times More’.
Sri Lankan fans are invited by Bathiya and Santhush to join the music video by filming themselves singing the official song. Videos can be shot using mobile phone cameras or handy cams and uploaded online to a special website
Fans can sing the event song solo or with family and friends and are encouraged to be as creative as possible. 
Their videos will be featured along with Bathiya, Santhush and Cricketing stars singing the World Twenty20anthem.  
“We wanted to involve the fans in the video of the ICC World Twenty20 song as they are a huge part of the country’s spirited cricket culture” said Bathiya and Santhush at the opening of releasing the video to the nation. “Fans have built the celebratory atmosphere that surrounds a game of cricket. The upcoming ICC World Twenty20 will be an explosion of excitement and fun and this is a special tribute to all the fans of the game.”

Special booths with fun backdrops and props will be set up in key locations and towns for fans to record their videos and upload the clips. Fans will be able upload clips of their own creative video versions by clicking on the option “Create a video response” below the official song.

The fan responses will later be screened by the ICC and uploaded to the official ICC Youtube channel, www.youtube/user/cricketicc to generate the most number of “thumbs up” in the contest. Selected contestants will then be entitled to have their personal ‘cheer’ as part of the official music video.

The official song with lyrics will be uploaded to the dedicated ICC Youtube channel for fans to view. The link to the official song will also be available on the ICC site, ESPN cricinfo.com.Facebook sidebar ads and other local websites. To download the song, fans can re-visit the ICC YouTube channel.  


The English version of the event song is sung by Arjun Coomaraswamy for international audiences, the Sinhala version by local stars Bathiya and Santhush and the Tamil version by Dinesh Kanagaratnam. The Sinhala and Tamil versions are aimed at the host nation cricket fans.

The official Video of the World Twenty20 anthem will be released in Sri Lanka and globally on 7 September 2012.

Sri Lanka Premier League(SLPL) Opening Ceremony 10th Aug 2012


The opening ceremony of Sri Lanka Premier League(SLPL) held at 7:30 p.m (August 10)  in Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
Around 1,500 distinguished invitees are to participated in the opening ceremony.
The event will be filled with Sri Lankan flavored cultural and international entertainment events, Sri lanka premier league(SLPL)organizers say.
Maxi Priest and the band along with Chris Gayle, Bathiya and Santhush with Lasith Malinga & Tillakaratne Dilshan, Reenie With Sanath Jayasuriya, Lanthra & Ashanthi, Arjun Kumaraswami and Lazer Act are to perform in the opening ceremony.
The T20 League kicks off from August 11 and will be played over three weeks at two venues - Colombo and Kandy. The tournament will be running till 31st August 2012.
The inaugural edition of Mahindra SLPL will feature seven provincial teams in a round-robin league format, with the winners having the distinction of playing in the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) as one of the teams in the qualifiers.
India's leading SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has partnered with the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL), as their Title Sponsors and the league will be known as Mahindra Sri Lanka Premier League (Mahindra SLPL).

Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) T20 Cricket will be start 11 August 2012. It’s a first SLPL league in Sri Lanka. SLPL Opening Ceremony will be held in Sri Lanka at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on 10th August. This T20 cricket tournament will be running from 10 August to 31 August 2012. This league was planning from 2011 but its published 2012. Sri Lanka Premier League Live Streaming 2012 is official website for this tournament’s. Sri Lankan local celebrity will perform this opening ceremony. Total 7 teams will play this tournament, first match will be held Basnahira vs Kandurata at 11 August 2012.

Here's some great news for Sri Lankan`s Reggae fans of Maxi PriestMaxi Priest  live in concert at Hikka Fest on August 11-2012

Maxi Priest was born in Lewisham, London. His parents moved to England from Jamaica to provide more opportunity for their family and he grew up listening to gospel, reggae, R&B, and pop music. His music is sometimes closer to R&B, and pop, than to reggae music itself. His cousin, Jacob Miller, a reggae icon, was the frontman in the popular reggae group Inner Circle. Priest has two sons, Ryan and Marvin. Ryan was a member of the boy band Ultimate Kaos in the 1990s. Marvin is also a singer and currently lives in Australia.

ANDREW DE SILVA WINS AUSTRALIA’S GOT TALENT...

Sri Lankan born Melbourne singer songwriter Andrew de Silva has overcome massive personal hurdles and stolen a second chance at stardom after taking out the Australia’s Got Talent title.
The former member of ‘90s boy-band CDB said winning the contest was “a dream comes true."
An emotional de Silva said he would be happy to put singing at weddings behind him to focus on recording and touring.

“It’s all about the music, and now I’m just going to start living my dream,” Andrew de Silva said.

The father of Yazmin, 10, and Jada, 4, said the experience was “life-changing” and the $250,000 prize would help his family become debt free.

He overcame cancer and a serious stutter and shared his touching stories with the nation.

“Those experiences are a part of my history and made me who I am,” he said.

His partner of 12 years, Elle, said their daughters were so proud of their dad.

“It’s been such a journey, and it has changed him,” she said.

“He’s doing so many things now that he wouldn’t have otherwise done.”

Andrew de Silva said he performed an original song Now That I Believe because it was all about keeping faith.

Judge Dannii Minogue said de Silva deserved to have a successful career in the music industry.

“It takes lots of guts to come back to the industry when you’ve already been part of it,” Minogue said.
