Miss China Yu Wenxia won the coveted title of Miss World 2012 ,  

China’s Yu Wenxia has been crowned the 2012 Miss World following the pageant’s final ceremony at the Ordos Stadium Arena in the inner Mongolian city of Ordos on August 18, 2012. She defeated more than 100 other hopefuls at the glittering ceremony held in the Chinese mining city of Ordos, on the edge of the Gobi desert. This is the second time Miss China has been awarded the title.  The first runner-up is Sophie Elizabeth Moulds of Wales and the second runner-up is Jessica Michelle Kahawaty of Australia.

The 23-year-old Ms. Yu Wenxia is a music student who said she wants to become a music teacher.
Yu Wenxia, who became China's second Miss World winner, appeared on stage in a dazzling array of ballgowns during the two-hour final and serenaded the audience with a piercing rendition of a popular Chinese song.
Last year's Miss World, Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela, handed over her crown to Yu Wenxia, who wore a sparkling blue dress, in the futuristic Dongsheng stadium in the northeastern city of Ordos.
The final, watched by a worldwide TV audience of an estimated one billion viewers, included a nod to the culture of Inner Mongolia, with a performance by a group of Mongolian musicians playing the erhu, a traditional two-stringed instrument.
